“and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” 2 Cor. 5:15…………..
“Father, what do you want me to do today?” I asked the Lord just a few minutes ago.
His answer was quick. Short. To the point. And it came with a message. For all of us. Yes, me. Yes, you. And everyone else, too.
“Be faithful,” He replied. “Whatever I ask you to do today, do it.”
This shouldn’t have surprised me, of course. Nor any of us. But the truth is that many of us, maybe even most of us, are programmed by the world, by our modern day culture, by the human flesh, to do two main things throughout our lives:
1. To do what we want to do and what we think we should do according to our own dreams, plans, agendas, programs, hopes, etc.
2. To plan out our lives, and our days, sometimes right down to the very minute, in advance.
What did the Lord tell me? And what might He be telling you through this message?
My job, and our job, is TO BE FAITHFUL TO GOD. In plain English, we are to live for the Lord Jesus Christ. According to God’s ways according to God’s plans according to God’s timetable for God’s glory. We are to be faithful to Him. We are to be yielded to Him, submitted to Him, surrendered to Him, moment by moment, trusting in Him, living to honor Him, to bless Him, to bring Him pleasure and joy, praise and worship, to obey Him in all things at all times.
My job, and our job, is also in being FAITHFUL TO GOD to not have to have our entire lives, and even our entire days, moment by moment, planned out in advance. We are to be so committed to Christ that we don’t need to know the whole future of our lives, let alone the whole future of our days, let alone the whole future of even this next hour. We are to simply know we are devoted to Jesus, and whatever God tells us to do, we know in His love for us, and in our love returned to Him, that we are to say to Him YES, YES, YES as He leads us by His Spirit through our lives, right down to our days, right down to this very hour before us, according to His plans for us.
When I asked God what He wanted me to do today, I expected He would give me big plans for the day. Concrete, solid, laid out in advance plans. Instead, He simply told me this:
“Be faithful. Whatever I ask you to do today, do it.”
Do you know what that takes, dear friend?
His love for us. Our love for Him.
Trust in Him.
Being surrendered to Him. Yielded to Him. Open to Him. With our hearts, and our ears, and our eyes, attentive to Him. To hear from Him. With the knowing in advance this.
Whatever He tells us to do, we need to be faithful.
Faithful to Jesus.
Faithful to God.
Faithful to our Lord.
Because He is Lord!
