Wait and Trust Me

0

“Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!” Psalm 27:14

““Blessed is  the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8

Wait and trust me.

There were those words again. The same I had heard before. Not just once. A number of times. If I had been listening better, listening more, I probably would have heard the words more. And likely will hear them again. And need to. Again and again. Do you know who spoke those words to me?

The Lord. The Spirit of God. The Spirit of Christ who lives inside His followers. Those who are going to heaven and have a forever relationship with God have turned from their sins and placed their faith in Christ as Lord who died on the cross to pay their sin penalty and was raised from the dead. They have genuinely repented and devoted their life to Christ. Submitting to the lordship of God almighty. They are indwelt by God almighty. By His Spirit. And His Spirit speaks to His followers through the Bible and to us personally in line with the Bible. So don’t be surprised if you hear messages like I did that day. And all the other times. In fact, maybe the Lord is using this message to speak to you even now.

Wait and trust me.

See, the Lord knows me inside and out, through and through. He knows my tendency to go barreling ahead, jumping in, plowing ahead at top speed when I see a need. When I think something needs to be done. Particularly when I see a person or animal hurting. Particularly when it has to do with something I’m passionate about. Most especially when it comes to my passion for Him and for ministry and a world in need of Him. When I think something needs to happen. NOW. He knows how I can get really driven by my flesh. Instead of to do what He was telling me that day to do.

Wait and trust me.

Friend, sometimes we need to go ahead and do something with whatever situation we face. This is true WHEN THE LORD IS LEADING THE WAY. But sometimes God doesn’t want us to do anything more or less than WAIT AND TRUST HIM. In that case, we can PRAY, SEEK HIM, READ THE BIBLE, SEEK GODLY COUNSEL, WAIT ON HIS SPIRIT TO SPEAK TO US, and THEN GO AHEAD AS HE LEADS US IN HIS WILL FOR HIS GLORY.

Before you go plowing ahead, ask God what you need to do. Do you need to go ahead? Has He given you instructions? Or do you need to wait and trust Him? If you’ve already gone barreling ahead in the flesh, turn back to God and seek Him. Wait for Him. Trust Him. Let His Spirit lead you in this and in all things.

The Lord God almighty is sovereign. Let us not be driven by the flesh. Let us wait and trust Him and be led by His Spirit. In His will. In His time. Yes, for HIS GLORY! AMEN!
