“Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.” Gen. 3:22-24
““He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” ’” Rev. 2:7
One day I walked by a little restaurant with my duo of dogs very old Abigail and her younger sidekick buddy Gracie who was hit by two cars on the same day before rescue when I felt compelled to turn around and take a photograph of the big sign out front. I had walked by the restaurant many times before as I walk the streets of New York City, but not until that day did I notice the significance and message contained on that sign.
THE GARDEN IS OPEN.
THE LORD because of their sin against Him kicked Adam and Eve out of the PERFECT PARADISE – THE GARDEN OF EDEN – where they would have lived FOREVER in PERFECT FELLOWSHIP with THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY.
Do you realize the awesomeness of God’s love for us in that He sent His only Son Jesus Christ to the cross to take on Himself the sin penalty of God’s wrath, death, hell, and the lake of fire forever apart from God before He raised Him from the dead? The sin penalty came on ALL humans ever since Adam and Eve because we all are sinners against God. Why did Christ die in our place?
THE GARDEN IS OPEN. God loves us SO MUCH that all who believe Jesus is Lord and died on the cross and was raised from the dead, genuinely turning from a lifestyle of sin to a life committed to God and His ways, are FORGIVEN and GIVEN THE PROMISE OF A FOREVER RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD IN PERFECT PARADISE.
God who FORBADE Adam and Eve from coming back into the Garden of Eden has opened wide the doors of eternity in Paradise with Him through Jesus Christ. The Garden is open to all who repent and turn to Christ as Lord, genuinely living their lives for Christ according to God’s ways.
THE GARDEN IS OPEN! Hallelujah! This isn’t about a sign beckoning people to eat dinner at a little New York City restaurant. It’s about everlasting life in God’s presence. And the only way to enter in is through faith in and a life devoted to Christ!
