Thank You Jesus!

“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thess. 5:18

“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.” Psalm 100:1-5

“Thank you Jesus!” a 12-year-old girl exclaimed delightedly at the front counter of a hotel where I was staying for my ministry work.

For the life of me, I can’t remember what she was so excited about and thankful for. Whatever it was, it was so little that the average person could have cared less. But in her 12-year-old heart, it was BIG. Something to be thankful for! Something to thank Jesus for!

The next morning, I found myself saying, “Thank you Jesus for ____ and thank you Jesus for ____ .” Normally I say, “Thank you God.” Of course, Jesus is God. The Lord is Lord. But the bottom line is that Jesus was not only on my heart, but He was on my heart to be thankful to.

Oh, to be thankful to Jesus! And for Jesus! Something we should be every single day, every single breath. For Him most of all! And for the big things. For the little things. And for all the things in between.

I’m not sure the girl was doing anything more than repeating a phrase she might have picked up from her Mom or from church. Maybe it was not much more than an expression. A bunch of words. Or perhaps she really was thankful to Jesus for whatever it was that I can’t even recall. I don’t know where she stood with Jesus. And with thanksgiving. Nonetheless she had no hesitancy to say brightly aloud, in public, “Thank you Jesus!”

I believe we ALL need to hear this message! How often do we go through our lives taking our blessings for granted – from the most precious blessings of all of being given everlasting life through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who died on the cross to pay our sin penalty and was raised from the dead to the next breath we draw to food and shelter and clothing and loved ones and endless other blessings bestowed upon us by the Lord.

Let this be your reminder today, and tomorrow, and for all the days, weeks, months, and years to come, to not forget to be thankful. To Jesus. Lord of Lords. King of Kings. Savior of the world. The one who will reign forevermore. The one whose fellowship we have when we repent and believe in Him as Lord. Let’s follow Him faithfully now and forever. And let’s remember this always.

Privately in prayer, may we be thankful! Right aloud in public, may we be thankful! To the Lord Jesus Christ! Now and forever! AMEN!
