Is Your Marriage Falling Apart?

“Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” 2 Cor. 5:9-10 NKJV……………..

“…For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written:

“As I live, says the Lord,

Every knee shall bow to Me,

And every tongue shall confess to God.”

So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.” Romans 4:10-12 NKJV…………..

Is your marriage falling apart? The ONLY WAY to a forever relationship with God is through FAITH IN AND A LIFE DEVOTED TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. And the ONLY WAY to a beautiful, healthy, whole, godly marriage that is pleasing in the sight of the Lord is through FAITH IN AND A LIFE DEVOTED TO THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Many years ago, my pastor who is now with the Lord gave me one of the greatest pieces of biblical wisdom for a marriage I have ever heard. My marriage was already well on its way to its final demise, but the wisdom I needed right then just as much as ever. It’s wisdom, in fact, we all need. The Lord hates divorce, and He makes it clear the only grounds for divorce that is not sin is because of sexual immorality. It is my great hope if your marriage is falling apart, that you and your spouse will surrender all to the Lord and that through your surrender He will save the marriage. The Lord can even work through one person surrendering all to Him. If your marriage is falling apart, and you are willing to surrender all to Christ as Lord, the Lord may well heal your marriage. But even if your spouse refuses to submit his or her life – and the marriage – to Christ and the marriage fails, this wisdom my pastor gave me all those years ago is critical. It is not only a key to the healing of a marriage, but it is fundamental in having an ever-growing, ever-more intimate, ever-more beautiful, ever-growing relationship now and forever with the Lord.

“When you stand before the Lord, you will not have to give an account of [my spouse at the time],” he essentially said. “You will have to give an account of your own life.”

In plain English, QUIT POINTING THE FINGER. We cannot change what a spouse, or anyone for that matter, does or does not do, has done or has not done, or will or will not do. And we are not responsible for their actions nor the consequences of their actions. But we are responsible for ourselves and for the consequences of our own actions. My pastor was pointing out that no matter how my husband acted, or treated me, what he had done or would do, no matter where he stood in relationship to the Lord, or how far He had run from the Lord, no matter how hard he rebelled against God, no matter what my husband ultimately decided to do with me, the marriage, and, most importantly, with the Lord, I HAD TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR MY OWN THOUGHTS, WORDS, AND ACTIONS. For every single human being will one day stand before the Lord, and as my pastor pointed out, we will not be responsible for anyone else. We will be held responsible for ourselves and how we lived our lives in relation to the Lord and others while on this earth.

I had a lot of repenting to do, and a lot of growing up in my relationship with Christ. Now that I am at long last a truly devoted, genuinely committed follower of the Lord Jesus Christ, striving above all else to love and worship God forever with all my heart and to bring Him glory forevermore, I can share this with you who may be in a marriage that is falling apart.

Make Christ your all in all, make God’s ways your road map for living, live for Christ above all and anything else, love and forgive your spouse as the Lord leads you, and no matter the outcome of your marriage, and I pray in Christ’s name your marriage would be saved, healed, and would bring the Lord glory for all of your days on this earth, remember to STOP POINTING THE FINGER. Repent of what you need to repent of, and live your life pleasing and honoring to the Lord, loving your spouse in Christ’s name, praying for your spouse and marriage and family, and seek godly counsel as the Lord leads you, but most of all spend time with the Lord daily, diligently, and devotedly, ever growing in His image by the power of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God for the glory of the Lord most high! May you yourself live your every breath in full devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ, no matter what anyone else in the world around you chooses to do, and to the Lord be all the glory forevermore, amen!
