“And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. 8 Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. 9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Cor. 12:7-10
I’m not strong enough for this, I thought wearily after receiving some challenging news. Immediately the Spirit of God moved on my heart. Correcting me. Reminding me of the truth. I don’t need to be strong enough for “this”. More importantly, I don’t need to be strong enough for anything! For it is in my weakness that the Lord shows forth His strength. It is when I humbly admit I am nothing without Him, that I have no strength without Him, that I am a weak human in need of an all-powerful Lord, that my human “strength” is really nothing in the grand scheme of things, that I make room, and make way, in my heart and life for His glorious strength. Through the strength of the Lord Jesus Christ, by the strength of the Spirit of God, in the strength of the Lord God almighty, I am strong enough for any “this” I may face. For it is not my strength I need. It is His. And His strength by His Spirit He gives to His followers who surrender themselves utterly to Him.
Humble yourself before the Lord, dear friend, if you are His follower, and receive His strength to be used for His glory! If you are not His follower, feel free to get in touch and I’d be blessed beyond measure to help you give your life to Him forevermore!
