When God Wrecks Your Plans

“and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” 2 Cor. 5:15

“Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23

I had the perfect plans for my day. But the Lord wrecked my plans. He had His own plans for me. I tried doubting Him, but I knew what I had heard. I tried pretending I hadn’t heard, but I had heard. I tried justifying why my plans would be better, but I knew I was wasting my time. I tried resisting Him some, but I shouldn’t have resisted Him at all. I shouldn’t have done anything other than what we should all do when God wrecks our plans.

We should realize this. God NEVER wrecks our plans. We should remember this. JESUS CHRIST IS LORD. Not us. We who believe in Jesus don’t belong to ourselves; we belong to Jesus. We who follow Jesus need to obey God. We who are saved by God through faith in Jesus need to surrender our lives to Jesus day by day hour by hour step by step each precious breath by precious breath.

Our flesh tries to convince us God has wrecked our plans because what He calls us to do isn’t what we necessarily want to do. Our wishes, ways, and wants don’t always line up with God’s will and ways, and they may even go totally contrary to Him like mine did that day. But instead of resisting Him as I had done, we should lovingly, humbly, adoringly, and thankfully deny our fleshly desires and submit ourselves wholly to Him and His plans for us. He ALWAYS knows what’s best. And we who belong to Jesus need to live like we do. For HE IS LORD. And we are His. Forever!

After a little bit of resistance that day, I repented and submitted myself to Jesus. Why? BECAUSE HE IS LORD. And I am His.

Are you?
