“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” Gal. 2:20……..
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad… and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” 2 Cor. 5:10-15……….
I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of anything much crazier to do at 50 years old on the budget of all budgets, with a car with 240,000 miles or so on it, purposely single for Christ, hating cold weather like there’s no tomorrow, with a noise sensitivity, and a strong desire to live a quiet, peaceful lifestyle with my loved ones close by, than packing my bags and car and little crew of handicapped and very old rescued dogs and heading off to New York City to do streets ministry and press on in my work as an evangelist and writer for the Lord. But please understand this message isn’t about me. It’s about ALL OF US.
I have yet to find one single story in the Bible of someone who was totally sold out to the Lord God almighty who was not asked to do something totally crazy in the eyes of this world who went ahead and did it not for themselves and their own comfort and convenience but for the Lord because they didn’t just call Him Lord and God; but because they lived their lives accordingly.
From Noah to Abraham, from Jeremiah to Elijah, from all the other prophets, from Moses to Aaron and Joshua, from Christ’s apostles to the woman with the issue of blood to the blind man to the leper to the paralyzed man to Daniel to Joseph in the Old Testament to Elizabeth mom to John the Baptist to John the Baptist to Philip the evangelist and Mary with the anointing oil to Deborah the judge to the woman at the well to, yes, to Jesus Christ Himself, person after person after person in the Bible did things that in the world’s eyes is totally crazy, entirely foolish, and absolutely nonsense but in God’s eyes is WHAT GOD DESIRES, WHAT GOD CALLS THE PERSON TO DO, WHAT GOD COMMANDS THE PERSON TO DO, even what GOD CREATED THE PERSON TO DO.
Let me ask you a question, friend. When you stand before the Lord one day and give an account of your life, which all of us will do, would you rather stand there knowing you did what God set you on this earth to do in reverence of and honor to and obedience to out of love for Him no matter how foolish it looked in the world’s eyes and no matter how uncomfortable, inconvenient, and even risky it might have felt for you – or would you rather stand there telling the Lord you rebelled against Him and disobeyed Him because you were more concerned about what the world thought of you and how comfortable and how satisfied your flesh was back when you made your decision to go your own way?
If someone asked me today why I’m going to New York City, the answer is plain and clear. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. Not because I’m anyone special. In fact, I’m nobody and nothing at all. But the Lord is my ALL AND ALL, and HE IS LORD, and HE IS GOD, and no matter how crazy His will may seem in the world’s eyes or in my own, I no longer live for me. I live for Him.
Are you living for Christ? When God calls you to do something that may seem foolish in the world’s eyes, and may feel uncomfortable and scary, rest assured the right thing to do is this. Remember HE IS LORD. HE IS GOD. And LIVE FOR HIM! The satisfaction and fulfillment you will find in loving and living for Christ, in drawing ever nearer to Him, in knowing His love more by the day, there is nothing and nobody on this earth that can possibly compare.
Live for Him! He is God! He is Lord! Forever!
