A Doggone Reminder from God

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:19…….

No warning from anyone about the exceeding expense of living in New York City could have prepared me for exactly how unbelievably expensive the city is, but to be honest what stands out more than anything isn’t the warnings I received before arriving in the city but instead the reminders I have received from loved ones about the goodness of God, the faithfulness of God, the loving-kindness of God, the loyalty of God, the blessedness of God, the mercy of God, the provision of God, and how magnificently He provides for us when we are in His will loving Him and living for Him and proclaiming Him to the world all around. But people’s warnings, and people’s reminders, none of this compares with God’s own ongoing reminders that HE IS BEYOND DESCRIPTION AMAZINGLY AWESOME IN HOW WONDERFULLY AND WONDROUSLY HE PROVIDES FOR HIS FOLLOWERS.

Just nights ago, I was on the phone with a beloved sister in the Lord sharing my dismay that the dog food I had been using that is very healthy and yet super affordable costs way more when purchased online than when bought in the store, and that I could no longer easily purchase in the store because of my new location. She is one of my constant reminders that I need to HAVE FAITH IN GOD, and when I find myself falling in faith, my beloved friend is ever pointing me to the Lord and to scriptures in the Bible to remind me to TRUST GOD.

Less than 24 hours later, I was walking down my little street with my beloved wheelchair dogs in our new street formation. I walk first, pulling paralyzed dog Mr. Simeon behind me. Then paralyzed dog Miss Mercy, with her leash attached to Mr. Simeon’s wheelchair, walks behind him. The street I’m on is small, the sidewalk is narrow, and much of the time it’s packed with people. This method not only works best for us to get to the park where there is more space, but also turns out to be a delight to people passing by who are often fascinated by the unusual sight of our little mommy and doggy wheelchair caravan mini parade of sorts!

A nicely dressed couple was walking by when all of a sudden the man who had already passed by called out to me. I can’t remember his exact words, but he was praising me for my caring for the dogs, I was telling him ALL THE GLORY GOES TO GOD NOT ME, as I always tell people when they try to give me credit for what I give God ALL THE GLORY for, and the next thing I knew he and his companion had turned around and walked to where we were to meet the dogs and talk to me. He reached his hand into his pocket, pulled out a bunch of money, handed it to me, and said a few words. Then he said something to this exact effect.
“THIS MONEY IS FOR DOG FOOD.”

Now I don’t know about you, but if that wasn’t the Lord telling me through this man’s generosity that THE LORD IS MY PROVIDER, that HE KNOWS MY NEEDS, that HE IS MY PROVIDER, and that HE WILL PROVIDE SO LONG AS I STAY IN HIS WILL LOVING AND SERVING HIM, then I don’t know what that all was.
I have one word to say to all this. WOW. But this is not all. I also have to say this.

TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY. EVERY SINGLE OUNCE OF GLORY. For THE LOVE IS HIS, THE PROVISION IS HIS, and the LOVE AND THE PROVISION ARE NOT FOR ME ALONE, but are to be SHARED AND PASSED ON and to be used to ENCOURAGE AND INSPIRE OTHERS TO LIVE AND BREATHE FOR THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, AMEN!
The scripture above isn’t just about receiving from God, dear friend. When you read it in its context, the words are spoken to those who have given. Let us love the Lord! Let us love others! Let us serve the Lord! Let us serve others! Let us proclaim the Lord Jesus Christ to the world! And let us be thankful for the provision the Lord gives us that enables us to carry on loving and serving in His name for His glory, AMEN!
