“Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” 1 John 3:15
“We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.” John 3:14
“Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.” John 1:13-15
Know what Jesus said about HATRED? It’s MURDER.
Know what the Bible tells us is true of those who HATE? They abide in DEATH.
Know what HATRED is in the Lord’s eyes? SIN.
Know what sin leads to at the end according to God’s Word? DEATH.
How many of us, I wonder, have HATRED in our HEARTS convincing ourselves it’s okay because we deserve to HATE so-and-so, justifying our HATRED all the while saying we believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and are His followers, all the while excusing ourselves for our HATRED and figuring we can make an exception because it’s our right to hate so-and-so?
God’s greatest commands are to LOVE HIM with all our hearts and to LOVE others as ourselves, HATRED is SIN and MURDER in the Lord’s eyes, and even if we are acting in our actions like we’re loving people but hold HATRED in our HEARTS – i.e. our thoughts and feelings – WE NEED TO REPENT, we need to confess our sin to God, we need to turn away from it, and we need in God’s strength for God’s glory to grow in His image and follow Jesus’ example of LOVING.
How easy it is to point the finger and judge and condemn people who hate and actually commit physical murder, or who commit the sins of revenge and vengeance and physical violence and such resulting from their HATRED even while we ourselves hold HATRED in our HEARTS that may or may not come out of our mouths and into our actions but is in our hearts nonetheless and at the very least ultimately causes spiritual death, displeases and dishonors God almighty, and needs to be REPENTED OF so we who believe in and follow Jesus as Lord can learn to grow in God’s image.
IN LOVE. IN FORGIVENESS. IN MERCY. IN GRACE.
For His glory.
God didn’t create us to hate. He created us to love. In our hearts. Out of our mouths. In our actions.
