Are You Trusting the Lord with THIS?

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 / / / “Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us…” Psalm 62:8

“Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.” Psalm 2:12

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6

“Trust me with ALL things,” the Holy Spirit spoke to me one morning as I was finishing up one of my walks through a park with Him, praying, praising Him, worshiping Him, listening for His voice, hungry for Him, delighted to spend time in His presence. “Not just some at the exclusion of others,” He said.

Later, as I sought Him as I am ever desirous to hear His voice, I expected Him if He had something to say to talk about something else. But still, He wanted to talk to me about trust. Clearly I needed to hear more.

“Trust me with everything,” the Holy Spirit said.

I stopped walking, grabbed my paper and pen, and started writing down pieces of what I knew would be a message for a devotional.

Is it not true some of us tend to pick and choose when to trust the Lord, what to trust God with, and even whom to trust God with? Is it not true, too, some of us tend to base when, and what, and whom we trust God with based on our feelings and past experiences or current circumstances rather than on the fact He is God, He is sovereign, He is all powerful, all knowing, loving, merciful, always knows what’s best, He is holy and righteous and true and faithful and glorious and good and compassionate and reigns supreme? If we’re honest, and examine our hearts in the light of the Lord and His Word, isn’t it true then some of us trust God in some areas of our lives at the exclusion of other areas? But what does God tell us to do in His Word? To trust Him with ALL our hearts. To trust Him at ALL times. Nowhere in God’s Word have I found God telling us to trust Him with some things and not others, or to trust Him only at some times.

Without faith, we can’t please God. God desires, and requires, our faith. He commands us to trust in Him, and blesses us when we do with His perfect will for us. He doesn’t want a little bit of trust here and there. He wants us to love Him, and to trust Him, with all our hearts. The Holy Spirit showed me that day I need to stop holding back trust from God in certain areas. I need to day by day, breath by breath, step by step, love Him – and trust Him – with my whole heart. The way He deserves to be loved and trusted. For He is Lord! He is God! He reigns forever! If you’re holding back your trust in any area of your life, it’s time to give Him all your trust.
