A Time to Die

0

“and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” 2 Cor. 5:15

“who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.” 1 Peter 2:24

“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Eph. 2:1-10

The verses above make it plain and clear, don’t they? Those who repent and believe in Christ as Lord who died to take our sin penalty and was raised from the dead and receive God’s forgiveness and the promise of everlasting life are commanded by God to do this. DIE TO SELF. And? LIVE FOR CHRIST.

DEATH TO SELF. And? NEW LIFE IN CHRIST. No longer living FOR US according to THE WORLD’S WAYS. Instead, LIVING FOR JESUS. How? ACCORDING TO GOD’S WORD.

The Bible says we are DEAD IN OUR SINS. When we repent and believe in and receive Christ as Lord, we are given NEW LIFE. We are MADE ALIVE IN CHRIST. We DIE TO OUR SINS and we are given the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST. We take on HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS so we are considered innocent in God’s eyes through Christ’s death and resurrection. Does this mean we now go back to our old self-centered lifestyle of sin? No! It means we are supposed to LIVE RIGHTEOUSLY – to learn DAY BY DAY to LIVE THE WAY GOD WANTS US TO LIVE.

FOR CHRIST!

How can we do that? Moment by moment, day by day, we learn how to deny what self is screaming out for when it goes against God and to say YES TO JESUS and what God desires for us. LIVING FOR HIM! To bring joy to God!

We want to live a life that is honoring and pleasing and glorifying to God almighty – to God who came in the flesh to this earth and died and rose again so we who follow Him can have everlasting LIFE! AMEN!

Live for Jesus, friend, LIVE FOR THE LORD!
