A Message About Your Mouth

“The lips of the righteous feed many,…” Proverbs 10:21………..

“The mouth of the righteous is a well of life,…” Proverbs 10:11………….

“The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom,…” Proverbs 10:31………….

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue,…” Proverbs 10:31…………

“Use your mouth for my glory,” the Holy Spirit told me one day. Though I have heard preaching about the mouth, and studied in the Bible about the mouth, on and off for years, I have never had a more clear and powerful understanding of the mouth as I do today.

I have spent decades of my life, and even to this very day can struggle with this very same thing if I’m not careful, using my mouth for all the wrong reasons. Negativity, moaning, whining, complaining, badmouthing someone, gossip, cursing, lashing out, anger, rage, temper, to voice fear and worry and doubt and unbelief and anxiety, vengeance, self-pity, selfishness, manipulation, control, senseless chatter, distraction, etc. I believe I am not alone in this. I believe we all are capable of using our mouths in ways that do not bring God glory.

Have you ever considered that we can use our mouths to bring praise, honor, and glory to God, and to love and encourage and bless others in His name? That we can use our mouths to exalt and magnify God, to proclaim Christ to the world, to praise Him and to worship and sing to Him? And to edify others? To speak life and comfort and compassion and support into other people’s lives? To share God’s wisdom with them, to speak scriptures to them, to help them know and follow Jesus, to help lift them up when they’re down, to help them persevere when they want to quit, to help them find the Lord, to return to the Lord, to repent when they need to, to help them not to be afraid, to help them make positive changes in their lives, to let them know they’re loved and cared for, cherished and prayed for, and not alone?

Have you ever considered you can use your mouth in the context of God’s greatest commands to love Him with all our hearts and to love others? That we can love Him and others with what comes out of our mouths?

What is coming out of your mouth, friend? Are you loving and glorifying God with your mouth, and loving others and helping them to find and follow Jesus with your mouth? The words God spoke to me that day are for all of us, aren’t they?

May we use our mouths, along with our hearts and every aspect of our lives, to bring glory to God! And may we use our mouths to love others as we bring glory to His holy most blessed precious everlasting almighty name!
